SUMMARY
As part of Vallejo's preventative maintenance program, 105 streets were slurry-sealed throughout the City. Slurry seal is an asphaltic and polymer-based emulsion applied to existing asphalt street pavements that are not yet significantly deteriorated, in order to prevent further degradation caused by the sun's radiation, intrusion of rain water, and oxidation. Slurry sealing is one of the most cost effective methods of prolonging the service life of street pavement over time.
