Project Description: |
Fund coaches and equipment rental for the ASES After-School Sports Program providing soccer and basketball to students at 14 Elementary and Middle Schools in Vallejo that serve youth from low- to moderate-income households. |
Implementing Entities:
Vallejo City Unified School District (VCUSD)
Update:
VCUSD and the City have executed a contract to begin the after-school program at the 14 school sites.
The basketball program ran from April through May 2016. VCUSD partnered with the Greater Vallejo Recreation District (GVRD) at 14 school sites to offer a basketball season, complete with a tournament at the Mare Island Sports Complex to wrap up the season. In total, more than 280 Vallejo elementary school students (87% from low- to moderate-income households) participated in the program. VCUSD contributed more than 200+ hours of in-kind staff time.
The Soccer was completed in the fall of 2016, and invoices are being compiled to fully allocate the funds.
