August 19, 2021 - CONSOLIDATED ANNUAL PERFORMANCE AND EVALUATION REPORT (CAPER) FOR FISCAL YEAR 2020-21 The City of Vallejo has prepared the draft CAPER for the first year of its FY 2020-21 through FY 2024-25 Consolidated Plan. The FY 2020-21 CAPER describes the City's performance in achieving the objectives in the Consolidated Plan for the period beginning July 1, 2020 and ending June 30, 2021. The Housing and Community Development Commission is scheduled to hold a virtual public hearing to receive comments on the draft CAPER at a regular meeting after 7:00 p. m. on Thursday, September 2, 2021. May 18, 2021 - NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED SUBSTANTIAL AMENDMENT TO THE FISCAL YEAR 2020-2021 ANNUAL ACTION PLAN On Thursday, June 3, 2021 after 7:00 p.m., the Housing and Community Development Commission will hold a virtual public hearing at its regular meeting on a proposed Substantial Amendment to the City's FY 2020-2021 (July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021) Annual Action Plan. Staff proposes at this time that the City use $165,765 in unspent, prior year HOME Program funds intended for housing rehabilitation loans to property acquisition to construct workforce housing. May 1, 2021 - NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TO AMEND FISCAL YEAR 2019-2020 ANNUAL ACTION PLAN TO INCLUDE CDBG-CV3 FUNDS On Thursday, May 6, 2021 after 7:00 p.m., the Housing and Community Development Commission will hold a virtual public hearing at its regular meeting on the second proposed Substantial Amendment to the City's FY 2019-2020 (July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020) Annual Action Plan. The City of Vallejo has been notified by HUD that it will receive an additional allocation of $856,930, known as CDBG-CV3 funds, to prevent, prepare for and respond to coronavirus. In order to accept CDBG-CV funding formally, the City must again make amendments to the FY 2019-2020 Annual Action Plan describing the proposed use of funding and the process for obtaining public input. February 1, 2021 - NEIGHBORHOODLIFT PROGRAM
The City of Vallejo participates in the NeighborhoodLIFT Program, a program sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank and administered by Community Housing Development Corporation. NeighborhoodLIFT is a 5-year forgivable loan (a grant) of $25,000. Wells Fargo has made available 360 grants to eligible applicants who live within the City of Vallejo. The program requires applicants to have a Homebuyer Education Certificate (online 8-hour course can be found at https://www.ehomeamerica.org/chdc for $99) and a preapproval to register. September 1, 2020 - VALLEJO HOUSING STRATEGY FRAMEWORK AND ACTON PLAN
On Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at 7:00 p.m., the Vallejo City Council will hold a special meeting on the proposed Housing Strategy Framework and Action Plan for implementation over the next five years. During the FY 2019-2020 budget goal-setting sessions, the City Council directed the housing staff to establish a housing strategy by means of conducting a market study, study session, key stakeholder meetings, and community meetings. November 17, 2019 - CONSOLIDATED PLAN PROPOSED AMENDMENTS AND HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT NEEDS
On Thursday, December 5, 2019, after 7:00 p.m., the Housing and Community Development Commission will hold two public hearings: 1) on the proposed amendments to the City's current Consolidated Plan that includes the period beginning July 1, 2015, and ending June 30, 2020, and 2) to gather information and receive comments on housing and community development needs in Vallejo in preparation for the draft of the next Consolidated Plan for the period beginning July 1, 2020, and ending June 30, 2025. September 19, 2019 - VALLEJO HOMELESS NAVIGATION SHELTER
In May, Vallejo City Council approved the use of Fiscal Year (FY) 2019-20 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program funding in the amount of $658,842 for the acquisition and construction of a public facility for a navigation center to address the needs of the homeless population. Last month, City staff identified a potential location for the proposed center. In the coming month, City staff will provide a recommendation to the Vallejo City Council for consideration of the property. For more information, please click here to view the press release.
